Turquoise
Turquoise is formed by water acting on aluminium and copper, which gives the stone its blue colouration. Shades of green come from iron impurities.
Sunlight will cause turquoise to fade. Most samples are impregnated with wax or resin to stabilize the colour. Turquoise is porous, and can be discoloured by oil and grease.
Turquoise in many cultures is combined with earthy red and orange stones such as coral or carnelian, to harness the combined protection of heaven and earth, it is also said to - - dissolve a martyred attitude or self-sabotage - instill inner calm - aid creative expression - help sufferers of exhaustion, depression or panic attacks
