Sardonyx

Sardonyx is a variety of the microcrystalline quartz, chalcedony. It is a blend of sard and onyx and is similar to agate. This stone is formed by the deposition of silica in gas cavities in lavas, which result in the distinctive bands and is usually black, red or brown. It can be found worldwide.
