Onyx
A variety of agate, this stone is made up of layers of quartz, chalcedony and opal and forms in rock cavities. Mostly black and white banded, Onyx is sometimes just black and is a rather somber stone.
Onyx is a hard stone but can be briitle so should be stored away from other jewellery.
