Jade
For centuries it was thought that Jade was a single gemstone, but it was found in 1863 that there were two types: jadeite and nephrite. Nephrite is more common, but both are fine-grained, tough rocks. Jadeite can be found in a wide range of colours including green, lilac, white, pink, brown, red, blue, black, orange and yellow. The most valued is imperial jade, a rich emerald-green stone. Nephrite colours vary from dark green to pale cream. It can be found in the USA, China, Italy, Myanmar, Russia and the Middle East.
Jade keeps its wearer from harm and brings harmony. It attracts good luck and friendship and promotes self-suffciency. Jadeite and nephrite have the same healing qualities.
