Emerald
Emerald is the precious green variety of the mineral beryl. It forms in granite and pegmatite rocks. The range of colours goes from a plastic-looking milky grass-green to the richest of transparent greens. Mined in Egypt 4,000 years ago, today emerald is found mainly in Brazil, Colombia, Russia, Pakistan and southern Africa.
