Chrysoprase
Chrysoprase is a gemstone variety of chalcedony (a form of quartz) that often forms in veins in light sandy stone. It is most often a dense, translucent apple green, looking like a waxy confectionary but it can also be found in darker shades of green and sometimes yellow, its colour comes from trace amounts of nickel impurities. The word chrysoprase comes from the greek chrysos meaning 'gold' and prason, meaning 'leek' It can be found in the United States, Russia, Poland and Tanzania but most today comes from Australia.
The colour can fade in sunlight and heat.
Chrysoprase promotes the love of truth, and hope, it draws out talent and creativity. This is a calming stone, stimulating acceptance of oneself and helps forgiveness and compassion. Chrysoprase opposes judgementalism. It prevents nightmares, and brings a sense of security and trust. Chrysoprase stimulates liver function.
