Description 6 & 8mm round carnelian beads, with 4mm bicone crystals and sterling silver beads.  This bracelet measures approx 7 inches in length and has a sterling silver clasp. Carnelian crystallizes from silica-rich solutions coloured by iron oxide impurities.  Some of the best sources are India, Brazil, Iran, Saudi Arabia and Uruguay, although a walk along any shoreline is likely to reveal carnelian pebbles. Carnelian, or cornelian as it used to be known is densely coloured, translucent to opaque. The colour can be enhanced by gentle heat.  The stone is a form of chacedony and is usually found as pebbles.
