Aquamarine
Aquamarine is a variety of beryl with a hexagonal crystal structure, the shade of blue in aquamarine is determined by the amount of iron in it, from almost colourless to sea blue-green. Aquamarine has a hardness of 7.5-8.
Aquamarine is the birthstone for March and is also the gemstone for the 19th Anniversary.
Ancient sailors traveled with aquamarine crystals, believing that it would ensure a safe voyage, would protect against drowning and guarantee a safe return.
